If you love film, and have a special soft spot for short independent films, you really should pull back the curtains to this amazing portion of YouTube. The YouTube Screening Room is a specially designed account created by YouTube. The channel is “a platform for top films from around the world to find the audiences they deserve” (ytscreeningroom).
Every other Friday you will find four new top-notch, high quality films, many of them being winners at international film festivals around the world. There are no restrictions on content, theme, length, topic and according to director Brent Hoff “that’s what we’ve all been waiting for.” It is an interaction between filmmakers and audience and both can begin discussions around the films. “It’s like one giant parking lot outside the theater full of people [analyzing the film]” (Brent Hoff).
So pull up a chair and enjoy one of the channel’s most memorable short films titled, Marry Me. This truly adorable short film is directed by Michelle Lehman and was a part of 2007’s Tropfest Australia Film Festival. The premise is “Little girl likes little boy. Little boy likes BMX bike. Something has to give.” So sit back, relax and enjoy the movie (Tropfest).
